Nice to see it was an easy fix. I actually have this same problem! Guess it's time to order new cables! They are about $180 shipped though so I might just continue allowing my MINI to warm up before trying to drive it until the spring time when I'll be doing preventative maintenance on her.
You guys are actually cheaper than anywhere else. For both of them it was quoted at $179.26 with shipping. I did find them cheaper (not by much) online elsewhere but they were trying to rape me with $35 shipping, which is ridiculous on something that only weighs a couple pounds so that made the total price more than your site. I honestly did even know about you guys though. Are you primarily an online-only business, or do you have a customer walk-in facility where we can come get parts? I am the founder of MINIs of Boston (a local MINI club) and I would gladly promote you guys for replacement parts as there aren't many places around that have them, let alone places that stock them. I've ordered parts from minicarparts.net which is in NY, and have had to make trips down to InSkip BMW in Rhode Island for parts on more than one occasion and that would be a much easier (and shorter) trip to take to come see you guys in Bedford, NH!
Ok never mind lol I just saw you guys are MINIs of Bedford! Whoops! Never would have thought of that judging by the website, but I was test running the check-out procedure and received an email from Parts at MINIs of Bedford. If you guys normally have a large array or replacement parts, I'll definitely be heading up there for parts!
Sounds like your car got herpes or something from that TR7 the louvers came off of. Typical. TR7's are just a cesspool of British car contagion... I know. I still have this awful rash I caught from mine, 25 years later.
And nobody commented on the fact that I called the problem......:confused5: I tell you I get no respect (in his best Rodney Dangerfield voice) Welding it like that (new fix) you might as well leave that one on Nathan, it will never come loose again, where the OEM one that's staked like your original probably will work loose at some point, just like yours did.
