    My son uses Windows Movie maker with really good results. Very easy to use.

    Yep, and it's already loaded on your computer with Vista.

    I've used Windows Movie Maker a couple of times and, like you, only needed to cut out some parts to reduce the size. It should be OK for what you want to do.
