Depends on the track. At Big Willow not so much. HP cars have much better speeds/times because of the long straights. The 2012s I was running against there were touching 140 mph at the end of the front straight. My best put me at 118mph.
Running on Streets of Willow the difference shrinks but you still come up short because of HP.
Stock for Stock on a road course a MINI S hard-top comes up short against high HP cars that grip like a Mustang GT with a track package.
Now, at an AutoX I'd put my money on the MINI without hesitation. Smaller, lighter, stiffer for faster transitions.
Not yet. I need wheels & tires for that. The Pirellis that came on the car are surprisingly good but I don't want to chew up DD tires at track events. So, I'm doing research and evaluating cost/benefit. Ideally, some 18x9 Enkei PF01s with 265/40/18 Hankook R-S3s. That, is a $2k+ set-up though....
