Surely the 'cleverest' of these is ballistic missile which is offensive on two levels: 1) ballistic means 'thrown' and missile means.... 'thrown object' 2) ballistic is from Latin and missile is from (ancient) Greek, and nothing pisses off classical scholars more than mixing the two source languages....
