I have no idea BT you could try Realoem.com for a parts view. Maybe after the screws are removed it has some clips holding it in really tightly.

Real OEM does show that's how to remove it. It's like a nice slick cover for a skeleton.

Twist the entire item #1 (at its base). It will detach from the headliner bracket (item #3). Once it's off, there will be some wires you have to disconnect.-

You didn't say, but don't you just twist it 90* or so and it comes right off?

I don't want to take just the mirror out of the plastic base that's holding it. I need to unscrew the whole base from the roof of the car. In the breakdown of real OEM it looks like removing the shell of the base reveals the fasteners.
