I only mentioned an engine swap because my 2006 has a new head (maybe 10k on it since installation), plus new plugs, oil filter housing, new clutch kit, new flywheel, new exhaust and a few other things. I’ve been the only owner and I know the service history.

UPDATE...
I’ve decided not to retrofit the Xenons.
I’ve discovered that the automatic climate control swap cannot be done.
I successfully swapped the Homelink rear view mirror, swapped over the Ian Cull Auto-Up unit, ALL of the red bits & bobs that I painted to add pizzazz to Schultze’s interior, and I installed a Sirius-ready Kenwood KDC-BT378U head unit—works WONDERFULLY with the HK system!
I also swapped over the unique LED tail lights and the InvisiLens anti-reflective gauge lenses.
I even grabbed my simple, but very useful, Light In Sight fresnel lens for the windshield.
I also pulled the Parrot Evolution CK3000 Bluetooth components even though I don’t have MFSW on the new MINI.
I will create a separate thread for MSFW steering wheel.

I'm pretty sure that the fog light wiring is there, but you will need a new light housing/lens/bulb and a new switch panel that includes the fog light switch. I think www.outmotoring.com had that kit for sale at one time (I still kinda crave doing it for Rufus, my current R53).
Yikes! Almost $450 for my combination of options (almost $400 for the new switch panel + $45 for the light/housing/lens). Maybe I'll just keep myself happy with my current setup. I do wish that all of my switch positions were filled, though... but keeping my wallet filled with 23 more $20 bills is also very attractive.-

Sorry to see what happened! I cant really answer either. I know some of that is prewired that way they only have to use one harness. But what would work and wont I don't know.
Glad you're ok.-

Most of what you want to do is simple plug and play, however you will need to have it programmed at the dealership.....I'm not sure about the climate control but it makes sense that all the wiring would already be in the car. I know the steering wheel controls, mirror and heated seats all will work.
2006 engine will fit the 2002 car - but there are some detail differences in the motor mounts and such.....just use the 2002 mounts.
Fixing a spark plug thread is done all the time, not a big deal at all and does not require an engine change.-

Hi, everyone...
With 99% certainty, I believe that I have located Schultze 2.0--except he is a 2006 BRG R53.
The Xenons on 1.0 are undamaged, so I am hoping that I can swap them over to 2.0--is this possible or just a wishful dream on my part?
The steering wheel on 2.0 is the plain sports wheel--no buttons whatsoever. If I swap over the Multi-Function JCW steering wheel from 1.0 (cruise control, stereo control AND bluetooth phone buttons), what else would need to be done to make the swap fully-functional?
Climate control: 2.0 has the dials while 1.0 has the digital display--I'm getting conflicting information about whether or not the control panels are interchangeable--and I would love to hear from someone who has successfully swapped these components. I will be getting into the head unit to install my Sirius radio (Lifetime subscription since Day 1!!!), plus swap over Ian Cull's Auto-Up module (yes, I'm spoiled!), so if the climate control panels can be swapped over, I'd prefer to do everything at one time.
I actually cannot remember if 2.0 has the multi-function rearview mirror or not...if it doesn't, I certainly hope I can swap over the one from 1.0 because I do NOT want to deal with a garage door remote and reaching for the rearview mirror button to open the door has been second nature for a very, very long time.-

So sorry to hear about your R50. And so happy to understand that you are ok. Being the same owner of my 2005 R50 since new, I get what you are hoping to do. Not sure it is cost efficient though. Good luck, hope you find your new MINI and use this to find something different and better.

Grrr...
WHY would someone use JB Weld to hold a spark plug in place?!!! -

Will a 2006 R50 engine fit into a 2002 R50?
If yes, what other issues would I need to be aware of?
Schultze only needs a few parts plus have the front rails straightened (per Nationwide’s Blue Ribbon shop). -

Thanks for the correction.

It’s not my engine with the JB Weld; it’s the 2002 engine.

Welcome back, Ericka...sorry about your R50. However, I hope you'll be back and posting here regularly now. It's been awhile.
