I know you'd like to save the investment. But, they really should replace your knob knowing they've got some sort'a defect in design. I guess you could always use a small cutoff wheel on your air tool to cut it open just far enough to wack it with a hammer and chisel. It'd probably open up like a ripened peach.
If there was enough thread engagement I would have. I think the super hot and humid weather earlier this week may have had a role in this little set back. But whatever... I already have an email out to Raceseng and have some ideas to eliminate this from happening again. If he's willing to invest a little into this one little niche part of his market.
So you are having problems with your knob and you though the Internet was the place to talk about it. Good luck Savvy and if you need tools I have a new pack of cutoff wheels and I will be around tomorrow night.
Going to throw it up on the lift & drop the exhaust so I can just replace the whole shifter stalk. I'll deal with getting the slammer off at some other time. Kinda have bigger things to worry about the next 5 days or so, you know!?
