I served with the 5th/7th/12th(12th now deactivated) Special Forces Groups (ABN). Loved it(my lovely wife hated it as we were NEVER home). We had absolutely no adult supervision at all and almost never worked with the conventional US Army.I'm the 5th of 6 unbroken generations of combat veterans, my son is the 6th. He flew on Navy 'LAMPS' SH 60s from little boys(Frigates and Destroyers). It goes:
1.Confederate Artillery
2.Confederate Infantry
3.Scottish Army
4.US Air Force
5. me
6. my Son
And you Sir, what do you do at Edinburgh Castle. Do they still fire the 1 o'clock gun? It's a shame that Grey Friars Bobby is dead these many years.:cornut:

P.S. We have a President that we'd like to trade you for say........ummmm....Dame Margaret Thatcher? -
Well I am the 3rd member of my family to serve in the forces. My grandfather was in the Royal Navy during the war and was lucky enough to be drafted off HMS Hood 1 week before she was sunk by the Bismark! My father was a Tank driver in a unit called the 15th/19th Hussars, he drove Chieftain MBT's. And finally me, I've been in 16 years, my first 10 were in the 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, in my 9th and 10th year I was posted the the Infantry Training Centre in the north of England and taught recruits for a couple of years. I transferred to the Military Police after leaving the depot and then became a member of the Special Investigation Branch, basically a Military Detective Sgt. I qualified as a CSI in 2010. Now I have about 5-6 yrs before I can leave with my full pension.
The 1300 gun still goes off daily scaring the daylights out of tourists!
