Hope you dont want the race header for a everyday driver.

The race header is no less appropriate for the street than the shorty header--both of which require some planning and parts for worry-free street driving. If you are going to use the race header, which has a very sexy collector and no doubt the best performance available for a MINI, you'll have to cut and weld your cat-back to make it fit. You can also buy the corresponding cat back from Mr. Nice Guy himself for what I think is the best performance combination that money can buy. The compromises are that there's no cat, so it ain't street legal, and the Ozone Karma will frown upon you. You'll have to make provisions for O2 sensor simulation. The street header is very well constructed and does have a cat, but one that struggles to perform effectively in the MINI's harsh exhaust gas environment. The cat does clean up your emissions, but on some cars you can throw catalyst inefficiency codes, so again, you might need some simulation for O2 sensors.
The best scenario would be if the community would lean on Jan to produce the street header, with the only performance cat that can handle such temps: the HJS manufactured in Germany. The problem is that it would increase his costs by more than $400, so there would have to be people willing to pay top dollar for the product. -

And any welder
can put a stub of any diameter onto the stock cat. The can it's in has funnel shaped ends.

Ahh...discussion on the part the OP is desired, but is this really the place as it is a Want To Buy thread.
If we would like to continue might I suggest the 1st Gen Engine Mods area. -

Mynes just arrived yesterday! Only one left I hear -
Why I want a header?
My oem sensors and cat went bad, so figure I would finally replace with aftermarket header, plus I am outta warranty. Don't mind the noise of the race header. Not sure what else to say?? -

Sounds good to me, but you do want to get an O2 simulator with a no cat header.

Did you ever get this figured out? I called Jan--there are several options on how to make this system work for your application. Basically I'm putting on the same setup Jan has on his car.
