Obviously a record is good, but how much time does 'smashes' equal? What are some times of other vehicles? etc?

I can't wait to here Ian's account as from what I could see he was held up a little on that lap. Great day for sure and man was he flying. There are still a few things to sort out with the car and for sure there is more in it. Hell, it still has the small pulley on the car

There were two Rotrex cars flying in that group. The RMW car and a crazy 400hp Miata. It was awesome to see a couple Rotrex powered cars killing it!

Wow, that's fast. My warmed-over R53 gave me a 2:12 out there on a good day.

Yep very fast and this is a street car and Jan's daily driver. From what I understand this being their first run in it in earnest, they are just scratching the surface of things to come...:)

Well you can't see much cause the camera is mounted to low (as high as my mount would go) and it's basing it's light sensitivity on the back of the seats but here is the incar video. I tried to figure out start and finish and start and stop it close. I missed by 1.2 seconds but you get to see the M3 that held me up... I sat down and figured it out. This was only my 5th full lap every at buttonwillow so I've got a couple cautious lifts in there...

**** I had know idea that guy held you up that bad. I could se you catching them but from the tower I couldn't that back part of track. When I could see you I could here you were still on it so I didn't think he held you up that bad.

Amazing you did that time with that guy holding you up so much.

OK, so what was the old "record" and who held it before it got "smashed"?

Taking nothing away from Ian's skill as a hot shoe here...

This new "record". Was this a sanctioned event or just an open track day?

    Who is the sanctioning body?

Did this MINI and the MINI that set the record before both run in the same class?

Lets be sure we are comparing apples to apples here please.

Nathan it was a "Redline Time Attack", exactly apples to apples.. ;)

The Mini that held the record we all know and it is a very light pure racing Mini while the RMW Mini is still a street legal, daily driven car down to the cup holder..weighing a good 500 pounds more than the previous record holder.
