RSR Motorsports will be running a team of MINIs Here is the link to the press release: RSR Motorsports to Field Two BMW Mini Coopers in NASA 25 Hour at Thunderhill | GoRacingTV | Racing Videos and Racing News! Anybody want to go? Norm
They have portable lights like they use on highway projects. It really does light things up. It's going to be clear, no rain, about 64F during the day and a bit windy. Can't wait.
By the way the track is 3+ miles, 15-turns and has loads of elevation changes. Its a cool road course.
I know. I checked out the track online the first time I saw a Thunderhill announcement thread. Looks like a really fun track to drive, excellent for MINIs...yet another reason to wish I still lived out there (spent almost five years at Beale AFB). Unfortunately it's about a 5,600 mile round trip from here in MD.
Been to Beale AFB many times, not far at all from Thunderhill. It is a great track for MINIs. We hold MINI Thunder there every year. Its a blast. I will be heading over there on Sat morning and will take photos. I'll try to post that night or Sunday.
Any chance they will run the same track set up as when they have the MINIs at Thunderhill?? Be nice for ya'll to be able to compare lap times..
For MINI Thunder we do run the entire course, BUT this is just a HPDE and it's NOT suppose to be a "speed" event, however last year Ian Stewart came out and drove Jan's RMW's MINI and nearly set a track record in just a few laps. The 25hours is obviously an endurance race and not a sort sprint but it will tell alot. I am anxious to compare times
they won't be running the same configuration as what we ran at the Mini day plus Ian was giving rides on worn out tires......
Here is a link to live video, audio and up-to-date timing NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill Here are some photos I got today of the RSR Motorsports live pits. I have some more on-track photos of the Minis and will upload them later December RSR Motorsports Teamwork at Thunderhill | Facebook
Cool, thanks! According to live timing at 7hr 16min both MINIs are still running and listed 11th and 15th. Here's the entry list if anyone wants to know what sort of machinery they're running against.
