However long they last, or you keep them on the car is to long![]()

It depends on whether you drive your MINI like and appliance or if you drive it like you stole it. Mine have never been an appliance and the most I've ever gotten out of stock run flats is 17,000 miles.

the oem pirelli p7 cinturato 225/45-18 summer rfs on my cms all4 were all 1/2 worn at 5000 miles when i rotated them ... original tread depth 10/32", measured at 5k - 6/32", 4/32" gone, 4/32" to go until 2/32" minimum tread depth
the treadwear rating on them is only 260 so i did not expect much mileage out of them, but they sure do have a lot of traction
at least they are wearing evenly front to rear so they will wear out together
i will not be replacing them with rfs, going for michelin pilot super sports, 225/50-18, treadwear is only 300, but they have a treadwear warranty of 30,000 miles

I had about 35K miles on mine and they were probably only half worn when I switched tires and trashed them. Yeah...lots of highway

I got about 30,000 miles on mine...they were the Ultra high performance all season version (UHP).
One thing to watch for on runflats when comparing miles is some MINI run-flats are Summer ONLY and some are UHP all-seasons....so comparing lifespan needs a bit of a disclaimer.... -

Another big factor with run flat tread life is air pressure. I've seen a number of folks driving around on 15psi for extended periods of time on first gen cars... which accelerates wear on the outer tread area (because you're driving around on the stiffened sidewalls), and the whole tread (because the tires get hotter running at low pressure). There's no visual cue (bulging sidewalls) to tell you that the pressure is that low.
If the pressure loss is gradual and consistent in all tires, the 1st-gen rotation-speed-based flat tire sensor probably won't detect it. -
I had the Bridgestone potenza runflats on my 2010 R56S. I got about 20,000 miles out of them before they were toast.

I took those run rocks off and replaced the with real tires.:ihih:
I sold a set of RF $100.00 just to get them out of my garage. -

Apparently most MINI drivers do not know the life expectancy because they dislike RF enough to remove them when new. I do not know either, because I sold my first MINI with 20,000 miles of lots of gravel road driving on the RFs and they still looked new!

It's the Tootsie Roll conundrum all over again.

Mine came with "summer performance" tires (Dunlop DSST's I think) and as such only had about 15k-17k in them. Lots of other folks have gotten RF all seasons and report much longer tread wear (as they should). -

I will qualify that with the fact that I drove 2,200 miles in the first month of ownership. So, the runflats didn't even make the full month.... :ihih:
