+1. Hope you get it sorted. Have the pump checked.
Old school guys stick with gen1s where the language is still comprehensible. I'd never go near a gen2, much more a gen3. :D

    Thats a shame...

The ECU is keyed to the VIN and the Body Control Module. Someone that access to the MINI/BMW Software will need to program the car.

Are you sure you need an ECU? I can't imagine oil getting to the ECU or causing a problem with it. You sure you don't have a HPFP issue? Cause that's far more likely than an ECU problem, plus there's huge warranty extension on them .

If you are sure, then I don't think they can pre-program an ECU, my understanding is it has to be on the car......but I could be wrong about that.

That's a good question to ask them. Don't take it for granted. The ECU does need to be matched. Make sure the people your getting it from are doing that.

After you sell you R56. Find a nice '05-'06 R53 and enjoy it.

All good advice above in this thread. Have other things all checked out even buy a MINI dealer before you buy a Website ECU.

The HPFP is faulty and that will cause all the above problems take it back to the dealer and let them deal with it.

so if the website selling the ECU is asking for my VIN, chances are they are going to program it to that VIN?

I haven't checked the codes myself but apparently there is one code identifying the HPFP is faulty (which i know is under warranty) and another indicating that the acceleration pedal isnt giving a proper signal. basically what happens, the car starts rough, then if i press the gas, i cant pass 3000rpms. acceleration is very slow, and even if i floor it there is no response by the throttle. i should probably just bring it to mini and get their opinion

If it were me I'd get it checked out by a MINI specialist first.... The option of throwing parts at it is always expensive...

Sometimes people cross reference vin numbers for model design and manufacturing date. So I wouldn't assume anything.
