(Montréal, Québec) –Proving that in order to finish first in the point standings in the Canadian Touring Car Championship, presented by Continental, you must first finish, Michel Sallenbach and Paul Gravel sit in first and second points scoring positions, after event #7 and #8 at Circuit Mont-Tremblant, located in the beautiful Laurentian mountains in Québec, albeit a tale of two different paths. Sallenbach who sits as the leader in points, is followed by Gravel, 189 points behind.

Sallenbach knew that he would have to step-it up a notch after a conservative qualifying run that left him in fifth position, behind the wheel of the #46 Clinique du Pneu/ASG Accessoires de Soudure Cooper S JCW. Increasing his pace in the race, Sallenbach narrowly missed a podium finish, closing the last lap in fourth position in the first race. The second race would bring the desired podium. In the opening laps of the second race, he avoided his spinning teammate in the #49 to capture a beautiful second position, helping to increase his points lead after the weekend.

Teammate Paul Gravel, behind the wheel of the #48 LDS Dyno/ Castrol/ GENUINE MINI PARTS Cooper S, qualified in tenth position for his first race at Circuit Mont-Tremblant. He avoided trouble and finished in ninth position in the first race and seventh in the second 30-minutes after a race-long battle with veteran Paul Dargis.

P.J. Groenke, who normally drives the #8 Durabond/Team Octane B-Spec Cooper, was drafted-in to take-over the wheel of the #49 Cooper S JCW for the next 2 racing weekends. He qualified in third position for his first drive behind the Verax.ca/Tundra JCW MINI Cooper S, behind a couple of fast Hondas. P.J. showed his talent after a superb third position finish in the first race. Unfortunately a spin in race #2 while he was in second position relegated him to a still respectable fifth place.

Sallenbach leads the championship by virtue of finishing on the podium at almost every race this season, while Gravel pursues his apprenticeship of a professional series as he can be proud of having finished all of his races so far this season.
