+1 on the WD-40. It works very well for me too.

Id hate to cut down such a nice big tree. It was probably planted when the house was built back in the 60s. But it def needs trimmed back.

Nail polish remover is a very strong solvent, it would be best for your paint NOT to do this. I believe this is basically Acetone.
If they are small then you can clay bar them off. If larger then use a mild solvent like mineral spirits or GooGone.
Unless you used a car polish product with wax in it to remove the spots, you will need to come back over the areas with a protective wax coat.
You should also spray the tree regularly to kill the bugs drooping on your car, if in fact that is your situation. -

Lighter fluid... The cheap stuff! It works and dries better than WD.

Very warm water on a towel works really well to make the SAP liquid again and you can wipe it right off. It's it's fresh and not baked on for months.
