Wow, I leave this thread alone and we're all in the weeds, lol:crazy:. I forgot to mention this at the start, but the hatch door is ridiculously heavy. MINI doors have always had some heft but that thing is a load. I'm sure some wiseguy has stated that's where those additional 45lbs come from, and if not, let me be the first to.
It was mentioned that an additional 20lbs was in the rear spoiler. Great, that's all I need- a heavy boot
It's not overwhelming, but it'll catch you off guard the first time you lift it, especially if you're coming from an r53/r56.
I would love to get one. The only drawback for me: I occasionally need a back seat. So I'll wait for now.
^^^This. Since this thread has been jacked from the OP I'll add in a question of a somewhat related note: I notice my local dealership's inventory was shrinking exponetially. I asked and they said there were some key R56 radio/centerstack components that came out of Japan that have all but ceased production. Anyone else heard this? Think it will effect the availability of Coupes and induce a Stealership mark-up?
Haven't heard from a dealer or seen anything on Motoringfile but it sounds plausible. My local dealership didn't seem light on vehicles, in fact I saw someone buy a hardtop while I was sitting in the Coupe. edit: Thanks for attempting to steer this thing back on track.
So as an added note to this thread I got to test drive a Coupe recently. It was an S and man did it scoot. The only thing that I would need to investigate further is rear visibility. It's not bad by any stretch, just different from what I'm used to currently and if you're coming from a hardtop you may find yourself a big constrained. Also, the seating position in the Coupe feels better to me but I'm not sure if the reason why as I figured the hardtop and coupe would be nearly identical. All in all, I was all smiles at the end. Looking forward to more seat time later this month.
Recently drove the Coupe, a nicely options S in Chilli red with silver stripes, it was sport suspension with 6 speed. It was precise in driving feel, much better than my R56 and my R56 is on tsw springs and 215/45 tires with a slightly modified alignment. Good power, could use a bit more due to the weight of the coupe. I drive my R56 Auto and our CM Auto All4. I feel my R56 has good power, the ALL4 is adequate and the Couple S would be very good with the JCW kit. Now if you went for the JCW Coupe, that is another story all together. See Jim P's Black/Black JCW Coupe and drool. I will try to capture a couple pictures and upload here if I can. :fingerscrossed: Don Chilli Red Coupe S The Red Coupe on the right is the one for 31.5K, I like it. Jim's JCW Coupe OOlligan You can see more at Jim's G+ area. I hope your all using G+. Guess not: I will see if I can crosslink it later. So try this link: Let me know if this works or not...
