While motoring around the back roads today I spotted two mgb coupes under the carport of an abandoned house. After a conversation with a neighbor, I learned they have been there for 20+\- years in their current condition. This one appears to be pre '68, the other is late '70's. The green one spoke to me. I know it's a terrible idea and a long shot, but Monday my quest to bring it home will begin.
The way it was explained to me is the wife died and the husband went to a nursing home. The surviving children can't get past their differences, and have let the entire property go to waste. It's really too bad. The carport looks like it's getting ready to fall. I'm going to reach out to them.....just incase. You never know.
Those two cars probably remember a much happier time... You NEED to resurrect them, get them back on the road, and fill them with bliss again....
I NEED it and it NEEDS me. The later model blue one had an inspection sticker on the windshield dated 1989. I've been around old cars and trucks most of my life, used to attend lots of car shows and cruise in's. Something about this one really interests me, alot more than most domestic cars of the same vintage. Maybe it's the practicality of it combined with the potential for fun. I bet it would even make a decent dd once cleaned up. It would look sooooo good sharing the garage with my mini.
Good luck on grabbing it away from the ravages of time. hope you share with us the restoration project.
As long as they aren't structurally rusty getting one back on the road shouldn't be to difficult. You need both, one to restore & the other as a parts car. I'd say the green BGT is a 66, no back up lights. Those appeared in 67.
Saw some cool stuff at the usual motorcycle Sunday b-fast spot.. Polaris Slingshot And also saw some guy going Commando
Well....based on the amount of money I'm spending to go to the Dragon, I went to each end of this rainbow tonight (as seen from my driveway) looking for Pots O' Gold. News Flash....I didn't find any!
Saw this last night after dining at Fleetwood's in Lahaina. This 1933 Austin is owned by Mick Fleetwood. He owned it for years before giving it to Eric Clapton, then reaquired it a few years ago. After a restoration, he now motors around Maui while on the island...
