I've only got stopped for no front plate once, and just got a warning (Erin found the slip the other night)...Out of 14 cars (some had front plates) and 16 years... The odds are good that you'll continue to be fine. Ferrari guy is parked stupid, but at least he is between the lines! Thats all I care about... (Note to people who double park anything, if there is enough space in the spot your driver door is occupying, I am the guy who will be parked 1/2 off of your mirror no matter what your reasoning is!)
One Xmas, I was looking for parking at a local mall. I had been driving around the parking lot for about 20 minutes, when I came upon a Corvette that had taken two spaces. I was driving a '63 Morris Mini Minor. I saw that there was just enough room to park on the driver's side of the 'Vette, I had to climb out the canvas sunroof to get out. When I came back, the 'Vette was gone. I imagine that he had to go through the passenger door and climb over the center console to get into the driver's seat. My Mini was kind of beat up and had a few different colors on it, so If he had keyed it or something, I wouldn't have noticed.
A couple more including the Motor Trend Driver Car of the year and the cleanest Karman Ghia I've seen in a long time.
Saw this '64 Spitfire in the BevMo parking lot yesterday afternoon. It's pretty much all Corvette underneath with a 383 under the bonnet. While not really my cup of tea in the British world of resto-mods, I really enjoyed talking with the owner and appreciate all the hard work that went into the design of the project. If you're interested, the guy has a website at ye-beast.com.
Hey it has a pair of Miata surfboard seats. Not my cup o tea either, but a lot of work went into that frankenspit.
Like the Spitfire conversion. Regarding the Ferrari. When I used to rally a MG Maestro in Dubai my sponsor was Al-Tayer motors. LR, Rover and Ferrari dealer. The support deal was I got to use their workshop to work on the humble Maestro. So I pulled in early morning to find the MG parked smack in the middle of 4 Ferrari's. Next the MG was a new F40 (this was back in the 90's) ordered by a local Sheik. So I set about working on the MG ready for the rally with just 2 feet between the MG and the F40. after 30 mins I couldn't work on the MG any more for fear of scratching the F40 . So I got the workshop tech to take the MG and deposit it somewhere safe. In the 90's we didn't have camera phones so that moment is just a nice memory.
Also they had a shop in there dedicated to ripping out the Ferrari/Range Rovers interiors and repainting the body so the owners don't have the same car as the guy down the street! Insane to see a brand new Ferrari interior ripped out and trashed! I saw yellow, White , Blue , Pink and multi-coloured Ferrari's. Oooh the money.
OMG that brings back memories! I drove one those and the Matra Rancho....dreadful cars. A mishmash of Renault,Talbot, Peugeot and Citroen parts. I believe the engine was a 2.2L Chrysler Solara engine. The Rancho was an ugly FWD SUV looking rust bucket with fiber glass panels in places.
I don't remember if I've ever shared this with you all or not. If I have please cut me some slack, I'm nearly sixty..... This photo is a snap shot from a quick little attention getter video that the local ABC affiliate shows nearly every day. That's my son, just doing his job. I'm so damn proud of him.
Even if it is/was a repeat, I like seeing that picture.... Btw, you are what nearly 60, Hah! Nearly 70 here, so go eat some good Mexican and catch up. I just know this is going to backfire....
I'll not touch the eating suggestion, but will add that I eat most anything. I'm culturally diverse... But really enjoy Asian.
