And we're at about 800 feet here in Mansfield?

Precisely? I'm not sure. But, AirNav.com has DFW at 607 feet and Love Field at 487, and City-Data.com lists Fort Worth at 612 feet.

YesIFit, thanks for the airnav.com link. Columbus is at 815 feet...gives a new meaning to Dallas being "down south".

Has anyone tried programming the X-Gauge to read horsepower?

    ScanGaugeII - Add-A-Gauge

Does the MINI provide the information for the scangauge to work correctly when programmed?

OK, so I programmed one of the x-gauges to read boost. What sort of range of numbers should I be seeing?

I'm using the SGII. I never checked to see if it had the X-Gauge function. If it does I will see what I can do about adjusting it to read manifold relative pressure (MRP) like a regular boost gauge versus the manifold absolute pressure (MAP). If I was flying an airplane MAP would be good but in a car MRP is much more useful for checking boost leaks and to make sure appropriate levels are attained.

Based on what I've seen in the R56

    MAP: 4 psi @ Idle
4 to 10 psi 6th Gear at freeway speeds (throttle dependant)
    23.5 to 25 psi @ WOT

I'm in Southern California so 14.7 psi is a good assumption number for nominal air pressure.

So in relative pressure (like a boost gauge)

MRP: -10.7 psi @ idle (Manifold vacuum)
-10.7 to -4.7 psi 6th Gear at freeway speeds (throttle dependant)
    8.8 to 10.3 psi @ WOT

I don't know what levels of boost the Superchargers generate for the R53s but I assume it's probably close. Hope that helps.

Just checked at lunch. I have the "X-Gauge" function. Thanks for posting this. I will set it up for the drive home and let you know how it goes.

Okay I got the Boost and the A/F functions to work first try. However, the Boost function will not display unless MAP is up as well. Im not really sure why. I seems like all the posts I can find (Here, NAM, TDI, Mazda247, etc...) state that using TXD: 07DF010B will solve that. That is what I have and I have checked three times. No dice.

I did notice on NAM there was another code: 07E0010B. I will try that. I wonder if the OBDII coding changed in the 2010 model or not. It should still be the same CAN bus as the rest of the R56s but I could be wrong.

A/F is interesting. It's useful while on the throttle. If you get off the gas (coasting) it will show an A/F of 29.1. At the slightest input it will show more nominal readings (12-14.7 as I have observed).

I'll check mine. At the moment I have MAP and MRP being displayed. I'll see what happens if I don't display MAP.

What's the A/F? Where are the codes to get it?

You won't have the same problem with your R53. It sounds like the "solution" was for the R53s not the R56s. You should be able to show MRP or Boost without the MAP showing.

A/F is your Air to Fuel ratio. I think the R53 uses a narrow band sensor so you can't get this data. The R56 uses a wideband so this data is available.

    Borrowed from NAM:

    CANSF Alt A/F Bank1 Sensor1 data - TXD: 07DF0134 RXF: 04414534 RXD: 2808 MTH: 05B900800000

Also the 'general' AF data works as well:

    CANSF Alt A/F General - TXD: 07DF0144 RXF: 04414544 RXD: 2808 MTH: 05B900800000

Quick Update post lunch: It works now. Used the second code. Now I'm displaying:

fWT (Water temp in f) BST (Vac/Boost in PSI)

    A/F (Air/Fuel Ratio) fIA (Inlet Temp f)

Beat me to it. Yes on my R53 I can display MRP with any other gauge. Just did a little run around and I was seeing numbers ranging from -12 with engine braking, -6 at idle, and up to +16 at WOT. I did notice it's a little slow for the readings to change on the scangauge. You have to run at WOT for a good few seconds to get the reading up.

I asked this a little earlier but no replies, has anyone tried the BHP gauge settings as shown on the scangauge website?

Yeah on the R53 the OBDII uses an older bus that updates about every 2 secs. The R56 uses a new bus that updates about once per second.

I haven't tried the horsepower thing. I haven't heard much positive on how well it works though.

Is this specific to the 2nd gen only?
