I use a very thin bladed small flat screw driver and wiggle it gently.

 

A wrap or two of electrical tape on the screwdriver prevents scratching.

 

Photography gaffers tape. Leaves no residue & does the trick. Don't use Uncle Red's favorite.

 

Or get a set of those plastic body panel removal tools. Best investment ever.

 

A set of jewelers screw drivers is handy for this.

 

....before it can do any damage to the plastic trim, I think you mean.

The end will fly off the tooth pick and damage your eye, but you can tell the ophthalmologist at least your car's plastic trim is OK....

Maybe a bit of 242 loctite to keep them from re-loosening.

 

I use a little hook tool or a tiny screw driver and they pop right out.

I use the cheap cream colored masking tape over Electric tape just because 3M Black Electrical tape can leave a little black glue behind but it will wipe off.

I am not sure where you are located but be careful if its very cold out because if you pry to hard you can crack or brake them. Warmer the better and they will be more flexible and come right out.

 

Also works to keep people quite in your trunk while you take them out to the woods.

 

Always follow the Health & Safety dept rules when working on such dangerous things. Proper attire is paramount!

 

Caution, don't over tighten those screws and strip them, just snug.

 

^^^ Yup I have a set of those and they work great if you are doing that kind of work all day long.

 

I have a set of those & yep they are great. I don't think I have one thin enough for those visor screw covers.

 

or you can go old school and just use a tooth pick as it will break before you can do any damage.

 

+1 for the Non-marring trim tools. <$10 at AutoZone and useful for many Mini applications.

 

Use precision screw driver available at the dollar store. Pry one side then the other until cover comes out. If its stripped re-tap thread using a tapping tool available at any home depot or auto supply.
