Mine sputtered a bit as well, but worked through it. I think the ECU gets all confused about what is in there. I put it in the gas tank once and will NEVER do that again.

Last time I Seafoamed I think I revved it while it was still sputtering and it threw a CEL for about 200 miles afterwards. I just did it again last weekend and it went well. Then I got gas the next morning and bam... CEL. Not sure if it's related or not. Hope it is.

Had Advance Auto pull codes and it was Misfire on 3 of the 4 cylinders. Im sure it would have went out soon, but I had them clear them. No more CEL.
Kind of a pain always getting a light, so I just wont Seafoam again for a while....or maybe just use less than a 1/2 can -

How new/old are you plugs? I think the amount is ok, I used almost the entire can as I couldn't get it to stall out with just 1/3. My plugs have about 10,000 on them. It didn't start after 5 minutes so I let it sit longer and it fired right up.

Replaced them about 2 weeks ago, so theyre good to go. Even ran a lot better afterwards (plugs) . Same gap and all
It definately had a good stutter going after the foamage. I think it was just after I did it I drove home from work (where i had foamed it) and then it sat all night and then I got gas 1/10 mile away and restarted. Probably still had some residue in it which tripped the knock sensor or whatever. -

I use Chevron Techron in my tank & have never had any issues. Although I do not have a R56 so maybe that is the difference.

I use the BG 44k and never have any problems in any of my vehicles.

I know there are some different usage instructions floating around. One I saw from OxyBlue, I thought it was, suggested using 1/3 can and letting sit about 20 min. Also your looking to not stall it out although you will certainly cause some sputtering.
I've done this 2X now and I get a crap load of gunk out if the smoke is any indication and no CEL's -
