That Jim won't but this Jim will Bowling shirt...... bowling shirt............ bowling shirt.........:beer:beer:beer The're not just for bowling anymore :cornut:
The Wet Okoles are a neoprene (just like a lightweight wetsuit) material that will not move around or bunch up. Very easy to clean as only the fabric cover ever gets dirty. And they fit like a tight glove and never get loose.
i have heard of some having a smell in the heat but normally a cracked window fixes that issue. im looking at getting some but they dont have pink stitching which is being requested in my other halfs mini
I've been "wearing" some grey half-pipe Wet Okoles on the front seats in my '05 PWB for over three years running. They indeed fit like a glove; I don't have the sport seats so I'm guessing that they'd fit those even better. The headrest covers didn't fit quite as snug but were quite acceptable. They offer a reasonable facsimile of a MINI logo that you can choose as a graphic (you have to ask for it, as it does not show up as an option on their website). Installation of the front covers was fairly straightforward and quick. Routing the transverse straps under the seats and fastening the clips was a bit of a challenge since you have to feel your way past the under-seat hardware, but certainly not anything overly intimidating. I know the back seat covers require removal of the seat bottoms, but having removed them for other reasons I know this would be fairly easy too. They did have a distinctive odor during the first several weeks but it was more of a "new fabric" smell than anything else. Somewhere along the line I stopped noticing it. I think they must gradually outgas, kind of like after installation of new carpeting in your house. They are tough. As I said, mine are over three years old and are still basically in "like-new" condition. I've never had to do more than clean off a spot or two with water and mild soap and that has been effective (I passed on the special cleaner they offer). If I owned a Cabrio, I'd think these covers would be almost mandatory to protect the seats from the sun and any other crap that falls into the cabin. During the winter months these seat covers are a Godsend. They don't feel near as cold as the underlying Leatherette did and quickly warm up against your bum. I understand that seat heaters work effectively with them installed too. In the summer, the covers don't breathe quite as well as I would have hoped (if it's hot out and I'm running without the A/C, my back will sweat some) but it's no worse than the Leatherette. Edit: I don't recommend these if you have pets that will be loose and running amok in your cabin. While the covers can probably take the physical abuse, pet hair seems to cling pretty well to the fabric. A tape roller will be you and your pets' constant companion. I guess the real testimonial is that I'm still using them continuously and liking them.
I love the logo! Got me thinking about these again... I just did not find a color sample that would match HC... WO: Bring the browns, please!
im thinking of getting a set for my vw but i dont know what color to get and im trying to talk my other half into getting these for her mini
Great info, thanks to all for your input. I'm going to look into finding the neo covers with the mini logo. Thanks
Great thread.... Thanks for all the info & the actual picture of the WO in a MINI. I'd love a set of Katzins, but that is way out of my comfort zone cost-wise. These may be the answer for me.
I like the look of these Cabana seat covers but it appears they're sold in Japan. http://www.mini-delta.com/b/products/detail4445.html
*sigh* I noticed my seats are decaying now, so I guess I'll be getting some of these seat covers. So many options on the site though, I have to be careful when ordering I guess. Still, it's cheaper than new seats from the dealer, eh?
I like the pleatherette, but it does seem to crack after a while. I had one cover replaced under warranty & it started doing the same thing within 2 years. Unfortunately I received no love from MINI. They refused to do a second warranty fix on my seat. I fart in their general direction. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWBUl7oT9sA]I Fart In Your General Direction! - YouTube[/ame]
Any idea if there's a way to re-upholster them, or do they swap the whole seat? I've got the heated ones, so I'm betting it'd be $$$$
