Did you catch what kind of plate it had. Seats are not NHTSA/DOT approved vehicles for US roads. My guess is that it had dealer or diplomat plates. 1) dealer plates if it were imported under TIB or some other special provision, without being legal for public highways, or 2) diplomat plates. I'm not sure what the deal is with Diplomat plates, but I did see a Benz once with German Consulate plates where the speedo was in KM/H.

They can come over for brief times

with manufacturer plates. That's how all the BMW diesels I've driven have been equiped (they were for media stuff, but I could go on the streets etc). Also got to drive a wonderful Audi A6 diesel, and some other "not for public" versions of cars.

They can come for a year and have to go home to mommy or the company gets in trouble.

You got me, but I don't do it going highway speeds. I was two lanes away from the car, too. It was just for that Porsche 911 GT3 RS. :D

    I rather liked it.

    I did not notice. Sorry.

Makes sense. Very likely. Not that we don't have other vehicles with Mexico plates in the area.

Seat is sold in Mexico, so most likely it was a visitor from south of the border.

I'm on the lookout. If it actually belongs to someone and not just a dealer vehicle, I may see it again since I take that route just about everyday. I'll try to (safely) get pics. I belive it was black.
