My son just turned 16 and for the first time in 4 years we can't come. My wife will be out of town next week with one of the other kids. My son and I are quietly talking about getting up early Friday morning driving 6:30 hours to the Dragon, hang out for a few hours and drive home. We may be crazy but it will be his first time to drive the dragon, I think it is worth it.
YES IT IS! If nothing else for more bonding memories for him. Make it happen, it will be great for both of you. If you don't mind me asking, what part of the country are you coming from (with that long of a drive)?
Mountains, so curvy route on one and two lane roads? That's how it is off the interstate (which is only I-70) in Colorado mountains.

Yea Tennessee is long. From Memphis to Nashville its 200 miles of boredom. We are set up to run fast(C.B., Escort, and Trapster) but it still takes time. Your right FranticFreddy. And after 4 years of being the passenger on the Dragon he deserves to be the driver this year.
Wife will never know.....tell her your at the mall or at the movies with your son..Father son bonding at its best 1 day road trip to the dragon and back ..you 2 will be talking about it for years and years to come..
IDK your schedule, but maybe you could get a hotel somewhere closer for Thursday night so the drive Friday morning isn't as long.
Well we didn't it make to the Dragon this year after all. But it was for a good reason. As several of you know I gave my younger son my MINI after the untimely death of his Mustang. On Monday he came to me and showed me an add for a 03 Mustang. On Friday I bought it for him. So we have a new Pony. I know you may thank I'm crazy but he is a careful driver. We got the car Friday night so he is driving the MINI till I get tags. On Saturday he was in the MINI and had a Police officer followed him to BestBuy. Once he was parked the officer told my son that the reason had followed him was becouse of the good job he was doing. He told him he thought a adult was driving the car, becouse he was being so careful and driving defensively. The officer felt he needed to know. Yea he deserves the Mustang.
