    :cornut:Gauge shouldn't matter as you're receiving, not transmitting. Drill a hole in the antenna where you intend to connect them and put solder and the wire in the hole together. It should increase your reception better than the stubby alone but not as good as the 1/4 wave length long wire.:Thumbsup:

    Is it true that the antenna on top of the car is mostly for am frequencies and that the fm antenna is on the back window/windows?

    So you guys aren't thinking the oem sport antenna gets any better reception than the rest?

    Nope, in fact the one review of it on Amazon says in areas of poor reception it is worse than the OEM standard one. Much like we've all found out with all the other short versions out there.

    They seem to be all the same, the only difference is the design. I figure you can't go wrong with any of them. Pick the design you like and go from there.

    Ended up getting an oem sport antenna. Works great! Noticeable lose of reception in hd channels in rural areas though. All in all I like that the color and texture matches the base of the antenna on the roof.
