    I would try Steve for OEM. I had done a quick search when you initially posted and the one I found appears to be aftermarket which is why it’s less. If you want OEM I would check with Steve. I’m not sure if Outmotoring or Detroit Tuned sells the aftermarket ones.

    I would think so yes.. I don't know the R50 so I did a quick search to confirm my guess.. that appears to be your oil pan if the picture I found is correct. Also, if the picture is correct, that is not where the drain hole is, so that would mean something punctured the pan. Good news is new oil plans are only ~$65 or so. You will want a gasket also.

    Hello Erika, long time no see. Like Sully says yes you need a new oil pan. It looks to me like someone suck something in there to stem a leak.

    Can you tell us what the story is about this botch job?

    That looks like a rat rod repair......even looks like there is another similar looking area of damage close to it. Maybe they dropped it on something and tried to,repair it.

    Erika it may not be leaking now, but to me that is a ticking time bomb. Sooner or later that is going to cause you a world of hurt. Replacing the oil pan now will be the least painful thing to do.

    How did that bodge job of a repair happen???

    To me it looks like someone stuck in one of those universal drain plugs that compresses a rubber washer to stem any leaks. Crazy stuff with no idea how that happened.

    Oil pan> Try Steven at eMINI.parts.com. They are very helpful & offer an M/A discount.

    Sorry to hear of your back surgery & hoping you are well on your way be being mended.

    That is bad. Did you hit something in the road? Is it still holding oil? I can't tell if the damage was done from the outside or inside.

    I have to believe this was done by a "mechanic". What are the odds that a bolt with a washer flew up from the road, pierced the oil pan and actually made a seal? That would be incredible. could happen, I guess.

    It looks crazy to me. if the pan is only $65.. they should have done that since they would have had to take it off (I assume) to put in the bolt.

    If it is not leaking that is good. My oil pan does not look like that. I agree with chuck

    I have no idea whenir how it happened.

    I suffered a back injury that required surgery, which is why I haven’t been to MOTD since 2013.

    WMW’s reply via email doesn’t make sense—clearly it’s not a casting issue when the oil pan was made.

    Yeah, I would not trust Waylan. I would have that oil pan replaced ASAP.
