NAS Lemoore is just 30 minutes south of us. We have some MidCal Minis club members who live there and you're certainly welcome to come and join us at a meeting when you get settled. Drop me a PM or an email and I'll send you some details. If you're here before the 29th of September, come and join the Valley British Auto Club's car show in Clovis. Run Saturday - Car Show Sunday... :beer
i wont be there by then...ill be there by years end but ill be in san diego for a few months for school then back home for leave then back out to lemoore...i should have my classic out there beforehand...its in the shop right now getting a final once over because i dont think there is a shop nearby there that could do work on classic british cars... plus i get some good discounts at the shop for parts and the like...but that means she will be ready to roam the left coast land right out of the box
I have been using Auto House in Clovis, Ca. for Reggie and Darrel and gang have been great. Clovis is in the city next door to Fresno. Only the change in the color of the street signs clue you in that you have actually changed cities. I can hear the Clovis folks groaning now. Anyway, easy trip from Lemoore.
There's a local British car shop in addition to what Kiki stated above. There's also a few trustworthy classic Mini guys in the circle that can always lend a hand. Get in touch when you're settled and I'll buy the 1st pint. :beer
I love the classic mini guys, keep posting them up. I have a file that I have added them too and they make an excellent screensaver.
and now...new pics... some of the things im having done to my classic before it goes off to cali is having the engine bay cleaned up... Before After
Classic winners Reggie took in the Valley British Auto Club - British Car Roundup at the end of September and did well this year. He took first place in most creative oil drips and second in the Winners Circle. He also showed off his new bonnet stripes. A fellow classic (owned by Firebro) took first in Open Sports. Not bad for two little classics. Reggie is in need of a new gasket for the front of his automatic transmission gearbox, don't you think? It did make him a winner however; check out the drip pattern on the paper (Mini Depends) just below the gearbox.
Thanks Kiki, for the notariety. What a great time it was, had by all. Well, all but the Modified Healey owner.....:cryin:
British electrical connections are prone to corrosion, when I was still able to ride my 12 Triumphs all the Harley guys used to tease me and say "You know why the British drink warm beer? Lucas also built refrigerators." But when I did any wiring loom building for one of my bikes I would put Dielectric grease on all the connections and never had any electric problems on any of my bikes. But did help several of my friends fix electrical problems on there Harley's while we were on a Run, I learned about Harley electrical problems when I took my '77 Super Glide to West Germany on my last tour, rode all over Europe.
Those wheels are a lot like the ones on my friend's Mini from my first tour to West Germany back in '77 but I think his had 12 spokes. How tall were those rims? His looked like 10 maybe 12" and 8" wide and had tires that looked like refugees from Willow Springs, and had a 1275 Super Cooper S engine with 2 40mm. Weber dual throat carbs. Hot little car, that is the bug that bit me and gave me my love for the Mind's! I was not able to find a suitable subject to bring back on either of my tours over there.
on a positive note my classic has arrived in cali and i now have her safely tucked away in the garage at my new apartment...now that i have her back i can finally get to cleaning her up as well as get around to some mods...
Here's a shot of our newly aquired 1970 Austin Cooper S. This car was completed on January 23, 1970 at the Longbridge plant and delivered to the owner of the San Francisco BMC dealersip. There's quite the interesting history that goes along with this car and it's great to have now become a part of it. Sorry for the redundant photo here, but I'll post up some more detailed shots as soon as I can get to it...
