I will install Powerflex bushings as needed, when the original bushings wear out.
I won't just change them out just to change them out, I wore out my run flat tires before I bought new non run flats.

How can one tell if specific parts are worn out?

Any changes in handling or noises when driving? Something may be worn out. Anything look problematic, when closely inspected visually? May be worn out. Just like deciding if you need new shoes, or tires...

With your eyes... or the eyes of a trustworthy mechanic.

You replace something when it's so bad, it's obviously worn or broken, you have an inspection that tells you something is worn or broken, or you just have the modding/upgrade bug and you want to replace the part.

Ok so here is what happened. Went to a mech and he says "nah don't get the purple ones, get the black ones, purple are worse than OEM, of course black are for tracks but it wont make a difference compared with purple, nothing that you will notice on the road anyway, but they will last longer and the car has better handlling", so i say "but a friend that has installed the black, has told me that they make the car feel like driving a brick" and he says, "nah car is stiff all ready".

So things like this, make me wanna check everything and be certain of my choices. Im not saying anything against anyones suggestions but you need to see that im in the middle of them, thats why i need to check things thoroughly and do appreciate any suggestion given.

Most of us have the purple Powerflex bushings. We are happy and they will last the life of the car. You have asked every question and we have given you the best answers we can. Now it is time for you to put on your big boy pants and make your choose. Good luck. Let us know what you decide.

Oh for the love of GOD. Just buy the purple ones and have them installed or trade the car in on a Camry already.

The purple ones are 100% better than the OEM one's and do not fail. No shaking at idle or anything.

The Black ones are really stiff and are for Track / Race cars. Things rattle but who cares because RACECAR!

I have purchased the purple for the front wishbones, the Lower engine mount is a different thing.
Dave.0 how do you know that for the R56 there is no shake, u own a 1st gen Mini.
And one more thing, money isnt pouring out of my pockets in making experiments, i need to be very carefull on how to spend it, you need to respect that.

Because I have driven an R56S with OEM, Powerflex Purple and Black bushings. :p

They ^^^ all are ok but the ones by Vibra-Technics are the best.

Id say that OK is "relative", it really depends on what roads one is driving on! Where i drive our roads are bumpy so im not sure one can really tell if they are ok or not!
