Jinxy, have you looked into Xbox / Forza? Just as good as Gran Turismo, but different.
Forza 3 has lots and lots of nice Porsches. Forza 4... not so much, but still looking good. I guess the best part is that Gran Tursimo 5 is getting a major update (Spec 2) this month, in answer to the release of Forza 4 tomorrow.
Yay, console sims!

Dave,
I haven't. I recall playing a demo of it on Xbox a while ago (I hope that's what it was) and thinking that it was very cartoonish. Reminded me of the NFS franchise.
In any case, I've been working my way thought the F1 games. I just finished the F1 Championship Edition (2008 ? I believe) in season mode. I am now trying the career mode on hard and it is indeed hard. Once I am done I am going to try to tackle the 2010 version and then 2011 which just came out.
Quick review (2008): It is fun to drive the circuits you watch on TV. Set to top difficulty with realistic tire wear and damage the game is very and pleasantly challenging. Setting up the car is a big part of the game and can take longer then the actual race. Most races are competitive and with pit stops finishes can be life like with seconds making a difference between wins and losses.
The AI is a little wonky when it comes to wet weather driving. Even if you set up your car for rain, it is impossible to keep up with other cars. You realistically drop 6-8 seconds per lap, while the AI cars seem to keep dry weather pace.
Even with G25 wheel, driving in manual is nearly impossible, so I leave it in auto. However, live dynamic of being able to adjust brake bias and traction control setting is pretty good once you get used to it. Being able to set three different settings for either really lets you set up the car to suit your style. Select a less competitive car and the game really presents a fun challenge.
There are some nice prizes (old F1 cars, some really old) that you can win and use in time trial mode.
***2010 and 2011 reviews to follow at a later (much later) date. -

Any Fanatec wheel users here? I bought a GT2 in early August, and am trying to deal with customer service about replacement wheel number 3!

Thus the reason I didn't get one......
Some friends in a racing league I am in tried them and have the same complaint, little to no customer service and the drivers are very buggy.

Jerry.... I am about halfway through season 1 of F1 2010. It is a bit more arcadie than Championship Season was. I hope to get F1 2011 sometime next month.

CS is a lot closer to a sim. 2010 is a lot more of a arcade type racer.
And now my ***** about GT5 ! ! !
Since when is there a 20 mil credit limit?! I had about 18 mil and did the Vettel time trial at Suzuka and got 6.5 mil for the gold with the bonus percentage. So it goes to add it to my bank when up pops a message......sorry Max 20 million ! ! And of course this is a one time race.
Argggghhh................. -

Hahaha... cry baby. The 20 mil credit was always there. Now spend it all at once and you will get a trophy. Just saying.

I was about to say the same thing. The last one I tried the demo was so bad that I never bought the game.
