Post-mortem...
A transformer blew in the 1102 Grand Building in Downtown Kansas City, KS, where the M/A server is located. This in turn blew the switch that allows for the external power to be switched to generator power in the event of an outage.

There is probably more to it than that. My info is coming from the host, who in turn rents space in the center. They kicked out all the hosting company reps when the issue started and sent their own people to check out the situation. I'll probably know a lot more in the coming days after the whole event is broken down fully.
