Last year we came on a bear in the road on the Dragon Sunday morning leaving.
This year 4 dear, 2 on a back road, 2 on 28. 4 Turkeys and a lane wide in length snake on the parkway. It's shorter now.
Then the Harley that lost it right in front of me Sunday morning on the Dragon. He went in the ditch rear end first. We all stopped to help him and get the bike out. He was okay and the bike's a little bent.-

lizards (and skinks, etc,) don't bother me, snakes don't bother me; but when it lazily tried to bite at my dog as we walked by (she jumped out of the way) before I saw it, it dies of severe head trauma

You're a guest in their household and should really conduct accordingly. They've got to make a living too and if left alone will do just that. I see harmless reptiles killed for no reason on our local muni and it makes my blood boil. A few more keystrokes and I'll have to break out the soapbox, so....

I have hit a few snakes on Hellbender and a couple squirrel and it no big deal. They run into the road, I try and swerve but sometimes I hear a little thump and think oh well live goes on.
This year while coming back from a parts run to Knoxville for Helix I saw two big ass F-ing Boars crossing the bridge right after the Foothills parkway bridge. :yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes:
Thank god I was only putting along at 50-ish and saw them from a log ways off. When I got up to them the were standing on the left side of the road and they were huge. They were Boars and not Pigs and hitting one or both of those fellas would have messed up my car badly.
Oh when I was on the lower section of the Dragon just after the turn around I had a Turkey run across the road and I was going into a turn at speed.
(30 mph :ihih::devil-

I'm actually rather amazed.
I only ever saw one LEO on the Dragon, and I barely saw any wildlife.
I must've been on the wrong road. :lol:-

No harm in an innocent black snake or a skink.
Gotta watch out for the ones with fangs, though.-

Dave, critters on the road are another subject. Swerving to miss one is more risky that holding a steady course and taking your chances. Come the rut we've got more car/deer county reports than bar fights and domestic disputes put together. Boars on the other hand are another whole thing, like hitting a sack of anvils. I've passed one boar/car confrontation down in OK and neither contestant was ambulatory.

There is a skink that lives in the steps going from the parking lot up to the grill.

Well it's neither Crotalidae nor Elapidae so no worries. Toss him a field mouse and you'll have a friend for life.

Every time I see this tread title I think Barry from MC2 was not at MOTD this year. :lol:
