and the thin tall digging tire wins Yes - a different set for winter is a good plan. Earlier part of thread "I have185-65-15 Blizzaks on oem 8-spokes for Winter use." "I" have the wider-than-185 variety of winter performance tire and frankly the thinner tall digging tire (185-65) wins ! :biggrin5: Mine have too much slip in the deeper + packed of this winter's crapola.
Okay, so the general opinion is that an extra set of rims is a good thing. Next question. How much to pay for a set of 15" OEM rims?
Since they are for winter abuse who cares if they are OEM or aftermarket? Just search eBay and I would say $400 max for the set of rims.
Well... on my gen1 I bought a set of gen2 15 rims...$300, nearly new (6 months of use) WITH TPMS... then sold the TPMS, and the tires (had them removed when I installed my snows)...RIMS WERE BASICALLY FREE.... I did drive a few hours to get them.....so it took a tank of gas and part of my day...
Purchased a set of R93 OEM 5 spokes, 15", on e-bay for $145 + $94.87 shipping ($238.87 total). These are the same as the rims on the M1N1. Look to be in great condition, with MINI centre caps. Now, what is the best way to store my rims/winter tyres during the summer?
I store mine in the corner of the garage with a plastic bag from the local tire shop covering them. Keep the tires away from electric motors. Great find & price on the wheels!
