Before I get lambasted and told to read the other umpteen threads on this I want to say that I have and they were very informative but still leave some questions. :cornut: I have caught the OCD detailing bug and have been successfully able to talk my lovely wife into buying me a full Prima system for my birthday! :drool I was so excited until I started looking at all of the products and reading about peoples different opinions. WOW there is a lot of products that do a lot of things, lol. So after spending around 2 weeks of my free time just reading, here is what I came up with. 2012 Clubby S, Pepper White with Black top. Full Detail: CosmoNot (as needed) Mystique Pre-WOW Clay Bar w/ lube Swirl (to remove optional dealer installed "character") Amigo Epic Black-WOW Nero Clarity How does this sound? Also ordering Cut, Finish and Banana Gloss (since it is my birthday present :wink What are your opinions on Epic vs. BG vs Hydro for waxing...? Any thoughts or opinions would be great! I am still pretty new to the whole detailing game but am willing to put in the time and labor to have something to be proud to showcase. Also already bought a canopy and box-fan to stay away from the Northern Nevada sun and heat! Hurricane Dave
Hey Dave this is not the lambasting site, we're the friendly one's. Go to the sewing site for lambasting. You have a very nice selection of detail products there. One addition I would make is to add Hyro to your list. OK tow additions add Pre-Wow too. I like Epic & use it twice a year. Hydro is used every car wash. I did not care for Glossingbannas. Just my .02....
Thanks Crashton! I was joking about the lambasting, lol but it is kind of hard to type out sarcasm! I guess I need more practice, lol! Pre-WOW has been added to my shopping list. Must of forgot about it. When you say Hydro are you talking about the wash or spray wax?
Sarcasm back at ya.... You won't need Pre-Wow often, but when you do nothing beats it. The Hydro I have been using is the spray wax. After every wash a spray some on & wipe the car down with a high quality waffle weave towel. I have not used Hydro wash yet. Mystique is the wash I use. Make sure to lay in a supply of high quality microfiber towels. You find many uses for them. That of one more thing. Get some Sonax wheel cleaner. It is the best I have used. Octane Guy has it.
Welcome to the fun world of OCD Detailing. You have a great list of Prima supplies listed. I don't think you will ever need cut, I have a bottle and have only opened it once in 2 years. Prima Swirl will take care of most of your polishing needs. After you have all these great products make sure you don't skimp on cheap microfiber towels. The ones at BJ's and Sam's club are junk. Cobra makes great MF towels. Sonax wheels clear is hands down the best stuff you can get. If you don't want to waste money on big drying towels get an electric leaf blower from Sears and when you are done washing your car you can air dry it. It works great to blow all the water out from the mirrors, light, vents, grill. This way you only need one MF towel with a few mist of Hydro to dry you whole car after a wash. Have fun detailing and post up some pictures when you are done.
Towels, buy LOTS of towels. Good ones, or don't bother with any of it. Sounds like a good list you have there:beer, now you need your wife to get you an orbital for that December gift giving time
Banana Gloss is great, a wax that is easy on and off and won't stain black plastic. You need to apply at least twice a year, but the depth of shine is great, especially on dark colors.
Thanks for all of the advice and help everyone! You truly are a great community and I am glad I found this site first! So my order ended up being : Mystique Clarity Lambswool Mitt Large drying towel Sonax Wheel Cleaner Amigo Swirl Finish Epic Hydro Seal Black WOW Pre WOW Nero CosmoNOT Thanks again for all of your input! By the way, does anyone know roughly how long it takes Show Car Supplies to ship? It's only been a couple days but I am just curious. Hurricane Dave
Thanks Dave.0 for the info. I am sure I will be calling him more than enough once the goods get delivered and would hate to bother him about shipping, lol. Especially since I won't have time until this weekend to even play with any of it. I will give it a couple more days to see if the website gets updated before I pester him. I only placed the order Thursday morning so it's not unreasonable, in my mind, to take a week to get an order of my size put together and shipped out. Just excited, that's all!
Well he is a great resource for detailing and his video is excellent. With an order that big I don't think he would think your are bothering him.
Got in touch with Richard and come to find out he was out of the office at an event. Got my order in the mail the day they returned and was in my hands in 2 days! Great service! Played around with some of the products on my wife's new Kia Sportage. It is what they call Black Cherry which is a deep black with fine red flake. I am extremely impressed with only using the Mystique and Hydro Seal. There is a down side though... The products worked so well that I now can see the dealer added options :mad2: swirls, buffer trails, hazing, white wax residue on the plastic..... Which leads me to my holiday plans for this weekend. A FULL detail on the Kia and my MINI. Before and after pictures will be posted. Wish me luck! My plan of attack as of right now: Sonax CosmoNot (as needed) Pre-WOW Mystique Waffle Dry Clay Bar w/ lube (Mothers Pro kit) Cut (as needed)(but not on these vehicles)(My bosses wife took a dish scrubbing pad to his Corvette bumper to "get the bugs off") Swirl (to remove optional dealer installed "character") Finish Amigo Epic Black-WOW Nero Clarity Hurricane Dave
You are equipped for the job. Take your time & you will have is shining like a new penny. Have to love what dealers do to cars. :incazzato:
Good luck and have fun doing it. Oh and those marks are a dealer option know as DISCO. Dealer Installed Swirled Car Option Prima Swirl will remove them with ease on an Orange lake county pad on a PC.
I would start with a white pad. Better to use the least aggressive products/pads first, then work to more aggressive if needed
See above: White pad and Swirl. I have used Cut only one tme when I first got my car to take out some paints abuse done some other idiot.
Round 1 So after 5 hours of: Nero applied Clarity applied to interior vacuum interior out preWOW blackWOW Mystique/lambswool wash waffle dry claybar and lube finish amigo Here are the results... Epic tomorrow when the sun comes back up to allow me to see what I am doing :ihih: The wife walked outside as I was cleaning up and I wish I could have taken a picture... her jaw dropped and the first thing she said was "can I touch it?". Lol priceless. Thanks to everyones advice here at MA and Richard for great products and teaching videos!!
Our Clubbies are identical except for the wheels. I am cleaning mine up now, and I thought it looked great, until I saw your picture. I guess mine needs more than a Meguiar's clay treatment and NuFinish applied with a random orbital buffer. Don't dis the NuFinish, it actually does a good job, just not great like that pre Banana wow package of stuff you bought. My birthday is in 9 more days....this has me thinking......
