Tidbit of the day..... In case you are wondering, here is where "others" get their airbag disconnect switch (outside surface of passenger side window vent).....
Lawyers. That's why don't have one here in the states. But with that said I realize how easily this thread can go to hell debating the legal system and some of the sharks that swim in those waters. I trust we'll stay out of that pond please.
I was thinking it strange only because I seem to remember some US vehicles could have the bag switched off with the ignition key and it would automatically re-arm with a new ignition cycle.....
Up until a few years ago you could switch off the passenger side airbags. But then the feds decided we had to have the seat sensors.....
Yes. My '99 Dodge pickup I used to drive at work had an on/off switch for the passenger air bag. Not sure what year exactly it was that they went to sensors, but it was a good step forward in my opinion.
Its due to two-seaters/roadsters/single cab trucks and baby seats pure and simple. As an example. My previous vehicle was a 2000 GMC Sonoma single cab. I had an airbag switch. My parents had a 2000 GMC Jimmy. Same thing but with more doors and cargo room. Theirs didn't have the switch.
And I thought we didn't get the switch because we would smash our hands turning it off while closing the door..
THREADJACK.............The definition of a SHAME: a bus load of lawyers going over a cliff with one empty seat:lol: NOW BACK TO THE THREAD! Jason
