Yes, similar concept. The MINI is limited in size and transfer surface area and the amount of heat transfer that can take place. The Laminova product is available several size selections based on the requirements (street versus race applications have different expectations). -

My understanding is that the lamanova cooler is much more efficient then the stock oil/water cooler.
i imagine much more stable oil temps with a bit less plumbing compared to air/oil as well as no need for a thermostat in really cold weather.
I too was wondering what they did with the front fender edge.
