Ok, I know it's a little after that fact, but last Saturday we went to the Ohio Deli for some dinner and I decided that I wanted to do the Dagwood challenge as featured on Man Vs Food. 30 mins to eat a giant sammich with roast beef, ham, turkey, two kinds of cheese, lettuce, onions, tomato and garlic mayo with a pound of fries in 30 mins. I managed it in 28 mins. Man, I was stupid stuffed, but I got the shirt to prove it.

I kinda wanted to throw up for a couple hours afterwards and didn't eat anything till the next day. But now that I have done it, I will never do it again.

Sorry I don't have any pictures, but I just had one of the all time outstanding Mexican dishes out to dinner tonight. A combo fajita dish with shrimp, chicken and beef and the greatest home made flour tortillas I've ever had... Refried beans and rice , and absolutely the best home made chips and salsa anywhere in the Central Valley.

Man am I full. Open the windows!

It's not easy to get good fresh crab meat from the Chesapeake Bay here in the heartland so when you find it....

Crab Cakes with Sweet Potato Fries drizzled with a Siracha Aioli and a quick pickled salad created from the bounty of a friends garden.

For dessert, a blackberry, peach cobbler.

Have to work out in the yard today.... Mulch the leaves with the tractor, replace some loose slate on the roof, cut back the rose bushes....

Got a big pot of lima bean soup cooking on the stove.... Chock full of andouille sausage, onion, garlic, potatoes, celery all in a chicken broth.... Kitchen smells great... got a nice loaf of crusty sourdough bread from Dan the Baker that will be topped with sweet cream butter.... This will go great with an ice cold beer after a full day in the yard.....:D

    Houston.... We have soup....

It's like 8 degrees this week, so the lump charcoal grill has been active over the holidays:

Get the grill to 500 degrees or hotter, and it's a nice wood smoked pizza with crisp crust on the bottom, but chewy in the middle. I wish the kids would settle on one topping; everyone wants something different, and it makes it harder to cook the top evenly.
