Catching up...
Those pickled asparagus were a hit. Recipe at Satan's Asparagus - Hellishly Yummy »
This mornings farmers market was a joy. They had PEACHES!!!
I bought a peck, the bruised, ugly ones. They taste better and cost less.
First up I'm in the process of making a Green Masala Peach jam.
Tomorrow I pick up the spices from my client to experiment with Pickled Peaches. Yeah, sounds odd. We'll see. Have a lot of peaches, will try a few different things.
Pictures, recipes and comments will be coming.
Till then, enjoy

HNY M/A peeps...
I'm having my parents over for my traditional New Year's meal today.....
I have a big pot of kraut on the stove with 4 smoked pork chops and 2 racks of smoked baby back ribs marinating with a full bottle of riesling wine..... You know... Because the pork chops and ribs get a little thirsty sitting in the bed of kraut.... A little while later I'll whip up a batch of creamy mashed potatoes closer to when my parents arrive....
I'll also be cooking up a batch of black eyed peas and salt pork as a side... I have a case of Stella Artois beer chilling in the refrigerator.... Gotta have beer with the kraut...:beer
When they arrive we'll have a little "happy hour" and I'll mix up a batch of Moscow Mules to get the show rolling...
Hope everyone on M/A has a great 2016....-

I decided to whip up some polenta, let it sit for a few minutes to set up, then cut it into 4" squares. Put them in the toaster oven to slightly brown the tops. Topped with marinara sauce and sauteed mushrooms, Grand Marnier and fresh garlic....

Meat-n-potatoes at the doghouse today.
I hickory-smoked a meatloaf with on the Weber Kettle. Oven roasted red potatoes and broccoli on the side. No gravy, no sauce, just wonderful smokey, meaty goodness.

Hmm, no Monty Python fans here, I guess, since my April 1 post went nowhere.
It is grilling season again, and I grilled up some chicken thighs seasoned with black pepper, garlic, and cayenne pepper. I double fried some taters to golden, crispy goodness for on the side.
A nice Spring chicken and fries basket.-

Here are three “breakfast” from this week.
Avacado (with hint of chili), poached egg on top of toasted bread... was quite good and avocados are brain food. Felt quite smart.
Breakfast Day 2 (and 4) - British Dish called “Bubble and Squeek”. Basically a cabbage potatoes cake.. was excellent.. (had it again this morning)
Breakfast Day 3 - also local style dish. Pan toasted bread, mushroom, cream friache (kind of like sour cream... kind of), poached egg.. this was my least favorite.
Nothing great for lunches and some dinners have been in room working.
Day 1 -Tagliatelle Bologna’s (quite good and very different). I tend to explore, asked the waiter his favorite dish.. he pointed here and I ordered. Looked it up later..
My favorite so far..Ravioli filled with Mushroom cream... I was expecting more of a mushroom filling. It really was a mushroom cream and exploded in you mouth. Light, flavorful etc. it was a quaint local small place.. will ghave back for sure.
There you go - fly back tomorrow.. off to meetings.Attached Files:

Nobody eating anymore?
I made a delicious Italian fish stew, although the fish were American. Shrimp and cod, in a soupy sauce of San Marzano plum tomatoes, blended with fresh basil and oregano, garlic green onions and red pepper flakes sautéed in olive oil (Italian). A little fish stock made from the shrimp shells to thin the sauce into more of a soup/stew hybrid. Herbs came from my backyard.
