It's not an issue. The internal temp never comes up near the danger zone, and anything that could possibly happen to the outside (unlikely in the couple-few hours that it would) would get killed in the 500 degree blast for X amount on minutes.
I left mine out for 4 hours. I've been doing this for years, never an issue.

Sorry, no pics. But dinner was seared Sashimi Grade Ahi Tuna salad with heirloom tomatoes, Persian cucumbers, diced avocados and home made croutons. A french baguette with some soft brie on the side and a bottle of 2008 Toasted Head Chardonnay.

I had a chicken stew with ginger and spinach. Not very photogenic.
Metalman, what's the ginger asparagus?
My favorite asparagus recipe for bbq'ing is:
melt some butter and pour over asparagus. Drizzle some honey over same and mix well. Grill. Yum! -

OK, I'm the cook in our household....
Well the season is starting to change a little here in Columbus. The mornings are down in the 40's some days. The trees are starting to drop some of their leaves. I really like this time of the year when it's becoming Fall-ish.
Sooooo........
Today I stopped by Thurn's and got some sliced smoked ham 1/2" thick (3 pcs). These will be cubed. Thurn's also gave me a free ham bone with probably 3/4 pound of ham on the bone. It's not for the dog......:frown2:
Ok.....
I let a big pot of cold water with 1 pound of Great Northern Beans (dried) sit and soak for about 3 hours. Chopped up one large Valdalia sweet onion, 2 cloves of chopped garlic, fresh ground pepper, 4 stalks of course chopped celery. In a separate skillet I browned 4 course cut (they taste better on the diagonal) carrots in butter. Add the carrots and chopped ham and the ham bone, let simmer on low until tender. Add salt to taste. I will be baking some cornbread later.
Spoon this over cornbread in a bowl with a several hits of Frank's Hot Sauce.
Awww Man, this is heaven.
Wish you guy's could try it.
Oh...... and Mark........
With an ice cold beer.....:beer -

Well I went "Airborne" today......
Was picking up a steel part I was getting powder coated for a custom fireplace project.
Slipped on the back of our flat bed truck as I was jumping down. With the slippery snow and all, I found myself "horizontal", and dropped 4' to the asphalt. It all happened in slow motion, and I'm thinking, this isn't good. Landed on my side, but other than a sore neck, elbow and hip, I'm OK. No broken bones. I know I'm going to be sore tomorrow.
So, I'm treating myself to a little treat. Saw this on one of the other forums.
Smokey links wrapped in bacon sprinkled with brown sugar. Kitchen oven smells great.
I figure I'll feel like I died in the morning anyway so I might as well give it a little shove.
Check these piggies out!

Glad you're OK MMan! We'll keep our fingers crossed that you don't hurt too much tomorrow.
Can't go wrong with anything wrapped in bacon!
I make water chestnuts wrapped in bacon.
