Actually, there's a bit of uphill in each direction. No sand though, the Coastal Commission let em pave the roads here just last year...

Today, in anticipation of entertaining (friends with 3 kiddos for annual pumpkin carving) a run to the Old Town community garden for pumpkins! Best part of that is, 100% of the proceeds go to the Arvada Food Bank. After carving a dozen or so, we roasted the seeds (make sure to boil in saltwater for 10 minutes, pat dry, toss in olive oil, then 400 degrees until desired doneness)....delicious! But while waiting for that to come out, flip on the fire pit and make smores!!!!!! This week will include EPIC foodie lover's fun. We are on vacation.:drool:donut1::wink::beer

I don't boil mine in salted water in order to keep sodium intake levels low. They are well spiced with garlic and chiles, the salt is not missed.

Mmm... Never thought of that, but a light chili and garlic oil on pumpkin seeds sounds good! :)

My soon-to-be 4 year old has been begging for something pumpkiny to eat lately. Also, I found out yesterday that I've finally met my last fitness goal that I set for myself close to 2 years ago!! So...how to celebrate? Homemade pumpkin donuts! :)

Way to go...now I'm out in the field thinking about what you're eating. I'll trade you for my delicious Chili-Mac MRE. I think it has a peanut butter packet in it.
