Don't have a pic of the amazing bangers and mash or the fish and chips we had, but the food at this place in Rehoboth Beach was amazing!
Yep, I made the cake, but not the donuts. I love to bake and I do all the cooking around here. Now that I'm retired, I can get back to baking big time. Jim
Hey Chuck bring it along with your lovely wife tomorrow & we'll celebrate with you. :donut1: Well I see it is Jim's cake. See you in the morning Jim....
Been quite the culinary weekend here. With it being cool, wet and overall raw the past few days it was time to prep and fill the freezer. Made a big batch of good ole Jewish Mom Chicken Soup. Most of that is now in the freezer. Made beef stock from scratch with all farm fresh stuff from the farmers market. Most of that went into a batch of onion soup. Then a big batch of Chili, the majority of which is now basking in the freezer getting even better.
I picked up three "Free Range" chicken breasts from the same "Short North" farmer's market. Making spicy Curry Chicken over Basmati rice for dinner tonight. I cook the rice with a splash of peanut oil and cumin seeds in the water, gives it a nice "nutty" flavor...... Going to have it with a nice chilled white wine and watch the Elmore Leonard DVD "Justified" series with my wife and dog.....Really liking it....
For my birthday, my fellow MINIac brought me over his wife's homemade lasagna yesterday.... yum!!!! :donut1:
More or less. Cicharones with yucca and beans and cheese pupusas cone. Only need cold beer . . . and sleep. Google Translate: with a change or two. Actually sounds good.
Smoked baby-back ribs from Thurn's are simmering in a big pot of german sauerkraut that has a splash of white wine, and a pot of potatoes are a cooking on the next burner over. Crunchy loaf of french bread is warming up in the oven that's going to be married with some sweet butter. Picked up a nice bottle of white wine from the Biltmore Winery, when we were at the Dragon last month. Having my parent over to share the bounty...... The kitchen smells great..... Picked up some Pistachio ice cream from Ben & Jerry's for desert. I also picked up a case of Yuengling lager beer that's chillin in the refrigerator. I really like the taste of that beer. I'll be introducing at least one to my dad when he arrives..... Cheers!!!
Thank god I'm having lasagna from my friend that she made... it's killer! Enjoy the Yuengling- the plant is about an hour from where I live. Did the tour last year- it was fascinating. It's built into the side of a mountain. They still have the corridors open where they hid their brewing during Prohibition.
I didn't have anything fancy...but it was DELICIOUS! Papa John's pizza with pepperoni, extra cheese, parmesan/romano blend x 2, 3-cheese blend x2 with light sauce. Cheesesticks 2-liter Coke *Yes, I do love cheese on my pizza!
