I was on Killboys site last night and noticed in his comments that there are some blue boxes mounted in the trees on 129 approaching from the Tennessee side, according to him they are speed cameras that the state of Tennessee are trying out and may become a permanent thing in the near future, he says they are spaced about every two miles.
That blows, if you are unaware of their presence you could have six tickets arriving in you mail soon after you return home.
It sounds like they are only in the trial stages now and not ticketing from them but if they do I will have to spend more time on the roads in North Carolina along with my cash.

Anyone else heard about this ?

Good info Doc. Could be that one should make a couple low speed Dragon Runs, so Killboys can document it for you and then go play elsewhere. :D

Two words: Spray Paint. Better yet, a well placed broken branch or 6... Hmmm. :ihih:

When is our sorry-a$$ed government shutting down again?

Easy to say if you are not getting laid off because of it. Or your not one of the troops overseas who is counting medical items MMRC is (was) working on. Or your small business had a government contract, which will not be paid and you could go under. This shut down hurts a LOT of just everyday folks.

This is the problem when the government has its greedy little hands in everyone's pie. Bad part is, the people who are causing it still get paid, no matter how bad a job they do.

I agree that the problem makers still get paid and are not hurt at all, which is not right. Now that the government has gone over to private contracting for almost everything, it has given many companies (large and small) the ability to stay afloat and hire people. These are the ones that get hurt the most.

Does the Government need overhauling? Of course it does. Is shutting it down going to solve anything? Of course not. I and many others on this site are going to take a hit from this.

All I am going to say, as this is the wrong forum................

As per KillBoy's site, it was an April fools joke. They are actually set up to study the Ash Boring Beetle population.

I knew Beetles were boring. That was a good April fools though!

I just hope it didn't give Tenn any ideas!

We have the same boxes in southern Ohio. I hope the folks down there can stop those critters. They have decimated the ash trees in Central & NW Ohio.

Just 'locate them' and then wrap them with suran wrap ( clear plastic wrap) it is hard to see they have been messed with, and the pictures are blurred and not usable. Not only that.. IF it were to happen, you can bet the MOTD will have them all well marked befor and after!! Yes??

As far as them being WRONG?? WTF.. we ARE speeding, and THAT IS breaking the LAW!!
I guess it is OK to break the LAW only when WE want too..?? LOL

    Just me......................................

They had no way to inforce them becuase the camera tickets where issused from a thrid party and a cop was not pressent to issue the ticket. Some sorta of techicality thing ...lol

but that was a really good joke!

I wonder who issues the ticket for these in Columbus?

I'll have to remember that small detail if I ever need to go to court.

I'll have to question how a third party is considered an officer that enforces the traffic laws? Hmmmm interesting.

That is why there are no points awarded to your license. Pure revenue generation. Third party splits the revenue with the city. :incazzato:

Some towns in TN actually do employ cameras but not for the sole purpose of monitoring speeders. They use traffic light cameras to ticket people who run red lights. Only the most congested intersections have them. In the mid-size town of Murfreesboro there are about 6 currently in use.

That is what we have here in Cowlubus. They are talking about installing speed cameras too. Speed tax...
