There is a piece over on Jalopnik about SPEED being turned into yet another Sports channel. Inn the article they reference an LA Times article that has the following: Now SPEED is just a former shell of what SPEEDVISION once was ever since FOX took over and made it the NASCAR Channel, but is the best thing we have going to catch things like 24 Hours of Le Mans, F1 and even some WRC programming. If you think they are still going to show Continental GT and ST on a Sunday afternoon when they could be showing Baseball I think we have another thing coming. I see this all as a very bad thing for those of us that actually more than NASCAR and all the attendant shows they circle around that wagon.
OH CARP!!! Man that is some sad news. :frown2: I see Ultimate Fighting & NASCRAP as a good mix, but heck please not on SPEED. Guess I will be relying on our friend Steve to serve up racing & rallying to me. :frown2::frown2::frown2:
Bad news indeed...unless I use the demise of TV coverage as an excuse to travel to more races and watch them LIVE :ihih: (honest honey....I wouldn't be traveling so much if they hadn't changed the SPEED Channel )
That is not cool. I love SPEED channel. I watch SPEED channel so that I don't have to watch Football, Ultimate Fighting , Baseball and soccer. When I want to watch any of those ( Almost Never ) I watch ESPN.
This is really bad for me. When I got married 29 years ago I had to agree to only watching racing or football/baseball. I chose racing so I need the Speed channel to get my racing. I do like the idea of having to travel to more races because they are not televised.
Well that will suck, I really hate FOX programming. It is all slanted and non fact based. Grrrrr. :mad2:
I was pointing at FOX news, I guess Simpsons and Family Guy could be a Never seen American Dad, so nothing I can say.
Sounds like they seriuosly want to get people to watch their damned Speed2 on the interwebs.......IF you can get it.
Have you guys seen this? Not a good thing for me. :mad2: SPEED WIll Lose F1 After This Season And That's Probably A Good Thing
It will cut down on my cable bill, I only have the upper tier programming because it was the only way to get Speed so I can watch F1.
Some pretty good questions raised, some of them in the comments section. Will NBC air races live? I'm guessing not, but then I usually record them and watch later anyway so as long as they broadcast on the same day I'll probably be happy. Will they air entire races? This is much more important to me and given the way some types of racing end up as highlights shows I think it's a valid question. What will happen to Matchett and Hobbs? I shortened that as I would be happy to see Buxton go ( :fingerscrossed: ) and though Varsha is very good there are others who could fill his seat.
I am in the same boat , the wife always reminds me we pay extra to have SPEED. Gonna have to see how it goes
I'll be paying extra to get NBCs sports network. Up until now I have resisted doing it. Also where will one see WRC on the tele? Guess I'll watch it here on Steve TV.
Speed (or whatever they're going to call it) seems set to continue to broadcast Grand-Am. Been wondering whether Bob Varsha would end up doing anything other than Barrett-Jackson...here's part of the answer. GRAND-AM: Varsha To Lead SPEED’s Rolex 24 At Daytona Coverage (speedtv.com)
