This has bugged me sense I got my mini. Why don't the 2 markings before and after 6000 RPM light up? On a BMW these markings would be yellow until the engine is at running temperature.
Why put them there if your not going to color code them?

Can any of you answer this burning question? Or am I nuts?

Good question but I cannot provide a good answer. Many years ago I thought about trying to retrofit the speedo with lights, such as shift lights but it seemed to much of a pain to implement. It would have been simple for BMW to do from the start.

    Speedo.....tach huh?

:D The tach is used in all models of the MINI so the red lights are different depending on the model and it's redline. But would love to see someone hack it to use those lights for something.

The diesel model overseas has a low redline.
