As part of the Mynes Custom tunes, we adjust the throttle response tables and provide better throttle response. It is tweaked to the point where it is much more responsive than stock (with no dead spots) but w/o it going 'super jerky' (don't know if that makes sense on paper)... but that's usually the first thing that customers notice after we take the car off the dyno and have the owner go for the test drive.

All this is done in the code so no add'l hw or wires to install.

Yeah, the price does seem pretty steep. :-(

Thanks for the interesting insight/feedback. You say it is fine in traffic jams. Is it easy though to "keep things under control" and not be jerking forward and having to slam on the brakes all the time?

If the new SB is easily switched off then that might be a nice plus for me.

We carry the Sprint Booster and also provide mapping for the throttle with our custom ECU tunes. So I have to say it's real dependent on the customer. The new sprint Booster has a switch to turn it off, or stage 1 or stage 2 (race) settings. All the customers that have got the sprint booster have loved it, But on the other hand all the customers that have gotten our custom or quick tunes have loved the improved throttle responce we gave them. If you can get the throttle mapping changed with a custom tune you are probaly alot better off and cheaper, but that isn't available to everyone so the Sprint Booster may be for them. Either way the improved throttle responce is a good thing.

I'm wondering if there's any correlation between the "love it / hate it" opinions and the year models of the MINIs they were tried on... Are the inherent differences in throttle response and/or modulation between older and newer 1st gen MINIs sufficient to make this an improvement for some cars and a detriment for others (in the opinion of most owners of said cars)? Is it an improvement on, say, 2002-2004 cars, but less awesome on 2005-2006 cars because they were different to begin with?

Stated more simply... do "most" owners of older 1st gens "love it" and "most" owners of newer 1st gens "hate it"? Just curious... since I have 98% of all other available mods, I occasionally get itchy to try this one...

I love mine as well. I purchased mine used for $100 on Ebay and it's been the best $100 mod I've done. Great fun and something like the Sport button in my wife's 2009 JCW Clubman, but better.

I have a late 06. I've tried the unit and was not happy with the changes.

I have had the throttle adjusted via a tune to my liking.

SB was tried before the tune at a track day. I found it to be more than I wanted and I could not modulate the throttle with the precision I desire. I did drive the tuner a bit batty when working on the throttle response. I think we spent more hours on that than the engine tune.

    Ah, OK.

Hours! :eek6: Is the throttle response tuning done while driving the car? (I would think so :confused5:)
