Cam change seems to have fixed my issues, gonna start working on the tuning and see what kind of results we can get.

I hope this question is pertinent......

I thought the benefit and advantage of the sprintex was to lower the temps involved with a MINOR increase in boost (for the standard pully size), is this correct?

    2. You should not report on any others car unless you played a significant role in the install and testing. Meaning, unless you were shop that did it and not someone that hangs out at a shop and looked over the shoulder of the person that really did the work you should keep quiet.

Whats going on with the Sprintex?

This has the potential be quite the thread in epic forum asshattery. In order not to make it that way there are some ground rules and givens here.

    1. W
e already know that RMW had their fun with and for the type of application (Race Car) it did not work out. We do not need a rehash of that again ,

Considering the previous post and his experiences, I thought an actual dyno chart from another Sprintex equipped Mini was germane to the conversation even if it wasn't from my personal car. It also illustrated what temp changes occurred on this car during the dyno.

Apologize if it was outside the thread guidelines.

As far as mine goes, now that all of my non-s/c related issues are gone, I'm working on my tuning, (slow process, doing it on the street & not on the dyno, but it's coming along), and as far as everyday goes, just start it and drive it, no different than the M45.

For me, wheather the #'s themselves are better or not, I still have had no S/C related problems and love the way the car drives, even with only the 70mm pulley, (I'm changing to the 64mm in the spring)
Even now, with the tuning not done and the factory LSD, I litterally have NO traction in 1st gear @ WOT anywhere over 20mph, and ton's of wheel spin on hard shifts into second. This thing is loads of fun, can't wait to get the tweaks done and eventually change the pulleys.

I'm passing along some updates do here's one for you guy's too.

Car is still running great, tuning is coming along slowly but surely, because of my Bytronik F/A I'm able to use the Virtual Dyno program to check my progress.

This is where I'm at now, as you'll be able to see I still have a way's to go but it looks very promising, esp. with the amount of boost I'm getting. (70mm pulley) Also as you can tell I need to get my AFR's up above 6800rpm before I do anymore hard pulls.

Here's the screen shot from the V/D with the Mustang setrings:

    3rd_Gear_Mustang_12-29-11.jpg

And just for comparison here's the exact same log file with the Dynojet settings:

    3rd_Gear_Mustang_12-29-11.jpg

All of the weights and corrections are as acurate as I can get them for now.

Hey BlwnAway, I'm sure you have posted this before? But what are your current mods other than the Sprintex? Thanks.

You are still very high on your weight of the car, even w/ driver (you).

Unless you are doing this test loaded down w/ random stuff, and a passenger then a more accurate weight for you would be in the 2850 range. Thats assuming you are in a fully loaded MINI option wise.

Actually It's the best avg. we can get, most info says thet the MCSC ranges from 2830 to 2880, therefore 2850 avg. Truthfully I'm probably being a little generous if the advertised weights are correct, I'm only figuring 300 lbs for me and my contents, and I'm about 230 myself. That being said just for the sake of accuracy I am going to get an actual weight when I get a chance. Trust me when I comes to performance I wish I had a hardtop.

Using the VD I'm truly trying to get this right, simply because even if you get actual dyno pulls there are so many variables between individual dyno's, operators and their settings that at least for those of us that can use this program there may finally be some actual consistancy, and as you pointed out about my weight, with all the info right in front of everybody, fudging becomes far more difficult.

Since this isn't techniclly my "build thread" I'm not going to post all my updates here, unless people really want me too, otherwise just check out my thread on M/U.

But I did want to add something on the "OverAll" of my Sprintex expierience, I had a big gain over the w/e by re-doing my VGS mod and adressing a "Whistle" issue by just cleaning my I/C boots & checking all my vacuum conections, it put my boost back to about 15.75 or so, and was able to achieve a 253 whp reading with the V/D program, on the Mustang settings.

With that in mind I do believe the Sprintex is really allowing my other parts to work better.

I will post all of my final results here though.

First roadtrip with the Sprintex (I would say "New Sprintex but I went past the 10,000 mark this w/e, so I guess it's not really new anymore), 1200 miles this past w/e, and the best and only thing I can say is "NO-thing", NO problems, No issues, NO hint of anything different than any other previous trips anywhere. IAT's ran between 12 & 18 degrees above ambient, and even idleing at 1500 rpm for 15 min. or so to jump my gf's battery didn't get over 150.

And I know this isn't directly related to the S/C but even with all my mods & hp, if I stay at or under 70mph, I still avg.'d 30.9 mpg, above 70 drops to 29.2.

Next trip MOTD, anyone who wants, just ask for a look or a ride. (when I'm not cooking of course)

Getting back into the tuning this w/e, it's been a long enough break.
