So newest update. Although the sputtering is gone with the help of the fuel filter change. It still didn't have the power that it use to. I decided to really push it off a stop light on my way home from work this morning and it lost all power whatsoever and threw my p0420 code which I know has to do with the post cat O2 sensor. But I didn't think that would make it run like it did. Possible I have a bad cat?
:cornut: Nathan, I remember that I promised to stay on the straight and narrow but boy could I make something out of that statement.:lol::lol: Jason
:cornut: Canabalise one from a MINI in a wrecking yard. No guaranties on quality/longivity though. Jason
The trouble you may run into is it is against the law to sell a used converter & even to install one. Odd, but true. You may get lucky & be able to buy one anyhow. :fingerscrossed:
:cornutrive(or trailor it) over the Canadian or Mexican border, which ever is closer, do the deed and drive back home. Nothing was done in the US. It is similar to what's going on with the Original Minis that are coming in now a days to the US. They are getting titled(oft times as antiques or older than the truly are. They don't seem to be on the radar yet but certainly great finesse is advised) and no one is getting in trouble so far. Jason
:cornut: I only hope that you have a very friendly uninformed shady inspection station OR go to Oklahoma they don't have vehicle inspection any more. Jason
Replace the rear O2 before you go CATLESS. You can also try and stall you car by blocking the exhaust with a few towels to see if you have an exhaust leak. I really don't think you have a bad cat.
I live in KY, an inspection free state thankfully. Moved back here after livin in NY state for 4 years where inspection is quite picky. I do plan on changing the sensor first as well as checking for leaks just haven't got to it as its been cold and rainy and I've been working alot
Sputtering is only the start !! Same exact issues was how mine started .. Back firing, sputtering ... Jumping kicking while running then slow acceleration ... $1200 later I needed a fuel pump replaced on my new 2011 s cooper ! To make matters worse I was just over my warranty 50,012 ! I googled this issue and apparently this isn't a rare find ... However in the past model they extended the warranty ... How can they continue to sell cars with issues they are aware of ! It's so wrong ! Anyone know how to fight to get the warranty extended on a faulty engine part ?
So the new fuel pump fixed the problem? Mine falls under the 100k mile warranty. Anyone know does that cover all labor or just parts? Edit: 120k? I was told it was 100
I didn't promise anything! I fixed my clogged cat with a prune puree, good thing she's an outdoor cat!:yikes: There I said it! rrr: Dave
