Any codes?

No CEL or anything - and haven't got a code reader available yet. Will look into this.

Grab hold of a OBDII scanner and read the ECU to see what codes are present.
Second, does it only hard-start and stumble when the engine is cold?
If so, typically, the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) could be to blame.

I know there was some issues with moisture building up in the intake manifold. Could be a culprit.

That's the exact symptoms of a failing high pressure fuel pump, which many (all?) R56 goes through. Time to visit the dealer

I've also got a 2007 MCS that just started showing these symptoms two weeks ago. Last month I had it in the dealer for a recall item and had them clean the carbon from the intake (the walnut shell thing) while the car was there. The rough running I had been experiencing went away and my oil consumption went way down as well. I didn't think the starting issue was related to the cleaning so I took my car to a local shop. Since the problem was intermittent, it of course didn't show anything at the shop except for some misfire codes. From what I've read, this has all the hallmarks of a failing high pressure fuel pump.
