OK.. the classic MUSTANG vs MOPAR in the movies is the movie Bullet. San Francisco Cop movie. Totally Boring save for a 20 mint chase thur the streets of San Francisco... I think I have seen it a bazillion times, even more than the Bourne movies LOL !! SOOoo... there is this series on TV called Alcatraz!! A bunch of inmates were trans ported from the Prison and disappeared. And now 50 years later, they are coming back in the towns and citys of the US. Sorta of like the "Lost " episodes. Its OK, I Guess. It is in SF. The leading lady is a blond that drives a 67 Fastback Mustang. A Bullet look a like. and in SF, lol go figure. Even has the classic black and gold tag that was used back then (70's), they show her driving here and there... using it in stake outs, ect. Nothing special, Nice looking 67 Fastback. Last nite the 2 hour season ending was on.. same old..same old. One of the bad guys is being pursued, he steals a Black Dodge from a parking garage ( still unassuming at this time..) and take off. The blond cop is running after, and when the bad guy steals the Dodge and makes out on the streets... the blond cop watches him drive off, and whips out her Badge and take a car that is just driving up!! The guy gets out saying.. "Hey, I just bought it"!! Guess what it was... YEP new MUSTANG!! In San Francisco.. Dodge and a MUSTANG!! YEP.. they did the same rout that the 70 movie did, missed the turn , had to back up just smoking the tires, jumping over the intersections.. even went down the same Hill where all those HUBcaps were lost in the original movie as they past a green VW!! Yep.. the VW was there!!!! I was jumping and screaming I could not believe it!! was totally unreal!! Oh well , just had to say..................... Thumper

Saw that last night as well, told the wife they were redoing the chase scene from Bullitt, she didn't have a clue what I was talking about, saw the Bug, no hubcaps came off, but it was a Charger and a Mustang...
Is there a US law that prohibits male drivers from putting both hands on the steering wheel? Or do the actors seriously think that to drive fast you put one hand on the top of the steering wheel and put the other on the armrest? At least Steve McQueen knew how to drive......
That's a fast turn-around from filming to airing. They just filmed earlier this month. Holy Mother of all Tires! :eek6: Amazing car, and that you still have it. Enjoyed the vid clips too. Wonder if they will ever do a decent remake of all the old "car chase" era films like a decent "Gone in 60 Seconds" or Crazy Larry Dirty Mary" , etc.
Little-known fact - at 1:30 in the clip below, the helicopter pilot had reconnoitred a right turn at the junction, so was surprised when the car turned left. But not as surprised as he was to see the phone/power line stretched across the road that he then had to try to fly under. That's why there is a cut right there. Just check the height of the rotor tips of the ground! HELICOPTER vs CAR - chase from "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" - '74 - HQ - YouTube
In the original flick when the Charger went airborne and exploded when it hit the gas pumps, if you look closely the Charger actually flies over the gas pumps and missed them completely. The movie was so far over budget at that point they decided not to refilm the segment and let it go as is. Unless you look for it, you don't see them miss the pumps.
