DooD!
Now thats just crazy!
Unless there were a red stig a yellow stig a pink stig and a blue stig then they could all combine their cars to make a MEGA Stig!!!
That would be EPIC! -

Personally...
I found the "some say that...." lines were getting stretched pretty thin. Occationally there was a good one, but that was just wasted space/airtime. here's a novel idea, they could take all that BS time, and actually have an experienced driver comment on the cars dynamics.
The best part about him being on the show for me wasn't the mystique, but the fact that an experienced driver, the same experienced driver, drove all the cars and that gave some basis for comparing the times.
Anyway, glad it's mostly over and we can get back to more pressing issues!

That's fine and dandy, doc, but I bet if you asked TG viewers what their favorite segment of the show was, you would get The Stig in the top 3.
-
Yeah, there's a reason for all those "I'm the Stig," or "I'm Not the Stig," or my favorite, "I'm the Stig's fat cousin" T-shirts.
I liked James May's interview though, that was kind of funny...
I really like that segment (along with the celebrity time laps, it's a guilty pleasure), and I hope they continue the segment with a "new and improved Stig".
As for "Stig comments", ccasionally Clarkson would comment on something the Stig said about the car, but I agree that the segment would be better if there was some commentary on how The Stig felt the car drove/handled (To be fair, maybe Top Gear feels it would be redundant as Clarkson or whomever drives the car before The Stig's hot lap usually does that during their road test). Still, The Stig's comment could be done up in a humerous way via Clarkson, allowing him to remain silent. -
I've preordered the book via the Amazon UK site, Amazon US doesn't even list it yet. Publish date is Sept 17 and I was not about pay more then book cost for 2 day delivery. Should be here between the 27th and Oct 1 according to Amazon.

Sorry, but if you gonna throw the slow, soft ones, I will have to at least take a swing at them. -

This is not really a "car" show. More of an entertaining variety show with an automotive bent to it. The Stig is really just an excuse to get the cars on the track with just a hint of driving consistency.
And for all you fans, I got my "Some say........." t-shirt from Finalgear.com a bit ago and it is a hoot !
They even have the new trailer for the TopGear US show...

Excellent stuff there, Steve. It is always best to know both sides of the story.

Clarkson is a prick...
but at least he doesn't hide the fact. But to complain that someone is a greety twat who makes little while the francise is taking it to the bank is just ludicrous. To claim the show is hurt when they managed a similar transition in the past is just a joke as well. They would have been much better served by saying "It was a good run with him. We'll find a way to give him an official "goodby" on the show, and shortly you will all find that we have the Stig III! Good luck to him in his new endeavors."

I'll second all of that ^ Matt. Personally I think both sides get something out of all this public whinging though.....
