I thought it was the CVT tranny's that were full of bugs.

 

Oh come on, how could that guy remain in one piece and have spent any time in the tranny? Not calling you a liar, but that does not seem possible.

 

Oil straight from the Gulf... Probably find a shark in one before too long.

Transmission ventilation valve? Never heard of it, but it's there.

Yeah there has to be some sort of explanation. There is no way it would be intact having been there from day one.

 

It is both possible that he got in there during assembly and even likely that the little guy stayed in tacked.Some Petroleum products like raw or refined oil acts as a sorta preservative on biologic's. The sump in a Auto transmission does not have an oil pick up like in a crankcase oil sump of an engine. So things will tend to settle to the bottom and remain there.I have found numerous items in Auto transmissions over the years ranging from non applicative fasteners, buttons,pens and even a watch all from first time services. And no the watch was not a Timex.
Now think about what gets in your processed food.lol

 

Well now I know if I want to preserve some bug stick the in the transmission.

I rather live in ignorance on this one, I work in the HVACR field and have seen many dirty restaurant kitchens sometimes it's places I like, once I know the truth I can't bring myself to go back.

 

Jabbles, you are so correct. I make custom stainless steel chef lines for local resturant's. Many times I won't take my wife to a certain resturant that she asks about because I've been in the kitchen. I have seen some really nasty things. She has gotten to the point of not asking why.

I am also in the food industry - I run a frozen dough manufacturing plant. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our plant and if anyone wants to see them I can put up a couple of short vids taken in our operation. We get inspected every year by AIB, and have gotten a superior rating every year, but it takes reall dedication and effort to do that. Most place won't spend the money and time it takes to keep your place that clean and organized....

 

That's a British protein stop-leak seal. There's one in every trans. I strongly recommend returning it to the trans immediately!

 

Yep... Several years ago, I worked on a contract negotiation team that bought flour, oil and sugar for a very well known cookie/cracker company (it was fun getting to help spend billions of dollars). The first time you read the specifications on what gets into a pound of flour, your head (and your stomach) will spin.

I wonder if MINI has a similar spec? Have you identifed the species? Is it indigenous to the UK?
